Maximum Heart Rate Calculator

According to Wikipedia, various formulas are used to estimate individual Maximum Heart Rates. All of these formula are based on your age.

However, actual testing has shown that the MHR can vary significantly between individuals. Even within a single group such as an elite sports team (for example, Olympic rowers in their 20s), their personal maximum heart rates can vary from between 160 to 220 beats-per-minute. That amount of variation is the same amount as for the calculations between a 60 and a 90 year old person.

Use the form here to determine your MHR using three different formula:

  • Common method devised in 1970
  • Miller et al. from Indiana University in 1993
  • Londeree and Moeschberge method determined at the University of Missouri in 2007
